The 3000 Series Two
Pre-amplifier was introduced in 1978. It had a list price of
$499.95. The trend was toward lower profile designs for Phase
Linear pre-amps, and the 3000 was only 3.50-inches high. All
Series Two pre-amps featured improved specifications from the 1977 line
of pre-amps.

While reducing the height of this component,
Phase Linear still had to accommodate same number of interconnects and
AC receptacles, which proved a challenging packaging design job. The
3000 was available in 1979 also, with a price increase to $579.95.

The 3300 Series Two
pre-amplifier was released in 1980. It had an improved frequency
response of 10-135K Hz and phone S/N ratio of 92 db. It had an
even lower profile than the 3000. List price was $400. |

The 3300 was highly rated by the high end
audio press and was favorably compared with tube pre-amps costing much
more. A higher performance 3500 pre-amp was also built
from 1980 to 1982, naturally having a higher price.

P3600 Pre-Amplifier
The P3600 and P3800 were
introduced in 1983 and were the only pre-amplifiers in the Phase Linear
line that year. They were completely new designs, bearing little
resemblance to previous 3000 series models. The primary difference
between the P3600 and P3800 was in the phono section with the P3800
having more impressive specs and a higher price tag.

The input jacks of these pre-amps included
jacks for a CD player, to take advantage of Phase Linear's new 9500
series CD player also introduced in 1983. The price for the P3600
was $450.00 and the P3800 had a list price of $650.00.
